Cops on Top is a team of volunteers from the law enforcement and public service community, who undertake mountain climbing expeditions to honor the memories of those heroes who have lost their lives in the line of duty protecting others. We welcome you to our home.

2012 Aconcagua Expedition: team itinerary

  10-Jan 1 Fly to Mendoza, Argentina.  
  11-Jan 2 Team arrives in Mendoza. Check into Hotel Mendoza. Get supplies.  
  12-Jan 3 Exchange money. Apply for climbing permits. Travel to Los Penitentes. Arrange mule service. Get hotel or stay in hostel.  
  13-Jan 4 Begin hike at Punta de Vacas (7,628 ft). Hike 7 miles to La Lena Shelter. Check in with Park Ranger.  
  14-Jan 5 Hike 8.2 miles to Casa de Piedra (8,858 ft).  
  15-Jan 6 Cross Rio de la Vacas and enter Relinchos Valley. Hike 6 miles to Plaza Argentina (13,780 ft).  
  16-Jan 7 Check in with Base Camp Doctor. Check in with Rangers. Rest day.  
  17-Jan 8 Carry load to Camp 1 (16,400 ft).Return to Base Camp.  
  18-Jan 9 Move to Camp 1.  
  19-Jan 10 Rest day. Eat and hydrate.  
  20-Jan 11 Carry load to Camp 2 (19,350 ft).  
  21-Jan 12 Move to Camp 2.  
  22-Jan 13 Rest day. Eat and hydrate.  
  23-Jan 14 Move to High Camp at Piedra Bandara (20,997 ft).  
  24-Jan 15 Optional rest or summit day.  
  25-Jan 16 Summit day.  
  26-Jan 17 Summit day.  
  27-Jan 18 Summit day.  
  28-Jan 19 Descent to Plaza Argentina.  
  29-Jan 20 Day at Plaza Argentina.  
  30-Jan 21 Descent to La Lena Shelter.  
  31-Jan 22 Travel back to Los Penitentes. Stay in hotel or hostel.  
  1-Feb 23 Travel back to Mendoza. Get hotel at Hotel Mendoza. See Mendoza.  
  2-Feb 24 Day in Mendoza.  
  3-Feb 25 Fly home to United States  
  4-Feb 26 Back home!
