Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski worked at the 4th District before being transferred to the 24th District. During the presentation of the 2009 Aconcagua gifts to Michelle Liczbinski, officers from the 4th and 24th were in attendance to honor Stephen Liczbinski and thank Cops on Top.

Noelle Bacon (my daughter) and I stand with the top brass of the Philadelphia Police Department. There are representatives from the 4th and 24th Districts present to honor Sgt Liczbinski and thank Cops on Top. Captain Alan Clark from the 4th District (back left) was very gracious to attend and accept a summit banner from Cops on Top to display in the 4th District. Sgt. Liczbinski spent many years working at the 4th District before going to the 24th District as Sergeant.

Mendoza Police

Mendoza Police

After first thinking there was some kind of an international distater, the Mendoza Police finally figured out that no one was killed or injurued and that we were police officers from the United States visiting.We gave gifts to the Mendoza Police that included Cops on Top stickers, patches, and banners signifying why we were climbing Aconcagua. I asked for the Chief of Police and the man in the white shirt came out. Given the language barrier, we were never sure if he was actually the chief or not.

After reaching Base Camp on our way down. The team rested for a day. Pictured is Adam Noether reading a book inside Daniel Lopez's Base Camp tent. Lopez was a nice host and remembered the 2004 Cops on Top team. We gave Lopez a spare expedition banner...which now hangs inside his tent mess tent along with other gifts climbers have given him from around the world.

Still windy

The day after we came down from Camp 2, we learned that temps fell to -39 below at Camp 2 and the winds grew worse on the summit. We were also saddened to learn ANOTHER climber had been lost near the summit. We heard reports that approx 5 climbers had lost their lives while we were on the mountain. We were very fortunate to have made it up and down safely.

As we left the mountain and started walking from Base Camp back to Pampa las Lenas shelter, we passed a group of mules that were carrying a load of gear to Base Camp. As we were leaving the mountain, the cycle continues....more climbers were going up.
